The Text
Mark 6:53–56 (CSB)
53 When they had crossed over, they came to shore at Gennesaret and anchored there.
54 As they got out of the boat, people immediately recognized him.
55 They hurried throughout that region and began to carry the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was.
56 Wherever he went, into villages, towns, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch just the end of his robe. And everyone who touched it was healed.
The Devotion
We know that Christ is the Lord over Humanity and in Acts 17 declares that he determines the times of our dwelling.
But it goes beyond that.
Christ created the heavens and the earth
John 1:1-2 (CSB) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
Christ is before the creation of the earth
Psalms 90:1-2 (CSB) Lord, you have been our refuge in every generation. 2 Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, you are God.
Christ is forever past and forever future
Revelation 1:8 (CSB) “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “the one who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Revelation 21:5-8 (CSB) Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new.” He also said, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.” 6 Then he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give to the thirsty from the spring of the water of life. 7 The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be my son. 8 But the cowards, faithless, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars—their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
Revelation 22:12-13 (CSB) “Look, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to repay each person according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
Yet, Christ is here in you
Revelation 3:19-20 (CSB) As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be zealous and repent. 20 See! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
The Discussion
1. At this very moment, is Christ in the past, in the present ot the future?
Yes.
2. Is Christ everywhere or is Christ in you if you believe and repent to the Risen Christ?
Yes.
3. Where does the Spirit of God dwells? The whole earth or in you if you believe and obey Christ?
Yes.
4. Where does the Father dwell? In the heavens or in you if you believe and trust in Christ?
John 14:23 (CSB) Jesus answered, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
The Prayer from the Psalms
Where can I go and flee from your glory?
Not in heaven, you are there ruling and reigning on your throne.
Not in hell, you are there active pour out your wrath.
Not on the earth for the whole earth is filled with your glory.
Selah.
When I stumble, when I am hurt, when I am betrayed, when I am blessed, you are with me, as the prophet Hosea declares, as close as a whisper.
Be with me, O Lord. Do not depart from me. Dwell in my heart and soul forevermore.
Amen.
